The all-new 2019 Nissan Altima was unveiled in NYC at the NY International Auto Show and it has everyone talking! That’s because of everything that’s new for this model, including a bunch of first-time technologies for the Altima.
With that being said, let’s take a look at the improvements made on the 2019 Nissan Altima that’ll be available in the following trims: S, SR, SV, SL and the all-new top-of-the-line Platinum.
New Engines & AWD
The first thing we want to talk about is the fact that select 2019 Nissan Altima models at our dealership serving Poughkeepsie & Newburgh NY will have All-Wheel Drive. This means that you’ll have even more traction and control during rainy, icy and snowy weather conditions that the Ulster County area is known for.
AWD will be available on all trims that have the all-new 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine that delivers 188 hp & 180 lb/ft of torque. This engine increases the power compared to the previous 2.5L engine and also is comprised of 80% new & redesigned parts such as the fuel economy-improving Direct Injection Gasoline system.
The 3.5L V6 has been replaced by the 2.0L Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine that produces 248 hp and 273 lb/ft of torque. This engine that combines power relatively equal a V6 with the fuel economy of a 4-cylinder is offered for the 2019 Nissan Altima SR and Platinum FWD models.
Amazing Tech Inside
Introduced in the all-new Nissan LEAF, Nissan ProPILOT Assist makes the 2019 Altima a semi-autonomous (or self-driving) car. That’s because this feature enables you to automatically steer, brake and accelerate during single-lane highway driving with the press of 2 buttons without your input, so it’s simple for you to maintain lane control, navigate stop & go traffic and set a speed & distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
Rear Automatic Braking is another new-for-2019 feature for the Altima. This technology works by detecting stationary objects as you back into a parking space or out of your driveway and automatically applies the brakes if it senses you’re about to hit said object.
These features join Nissan Safety Shield 360 that provides front, side and rear safety monitoring & intervention. The other technologies that help keep you safe by preventing accidents include:
- Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
- Lane Departure Warning
- Radar-based Blind Spot Warning
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- High Beam Assist
2019 Nissan Altima’s New Look
There are some updated design cues in the 2019 Nissan Altima. Starting with the exterior, you’ll see that the lower, longer and wider platform causes the vehicle to have a more sophisticated look. The features that have been improved to help with this professional appearance include the:
- Distinctive V-motion grille
- Floating roof with slimmer pillars
- Boomerang lights with more streamlined headlights
- Added Scarlet Ember paint color
The interior also receives new light gray tones, along with the Altima’s trademark NASA-inspired Zero Gravity seats that now have dual-density foam & new bolstering for added comfort. A more open feel can be felt in the cabin thanks to the lower instrument panel with a 7″ Advanced Drive Assist Display behind the steering wheel and an 8″ color multi-touch display in center.View Our Current Nissan Altima Inventory
